Keeping Active This Winter

This piece was written for our parish newsletter, so I thought I would share it with a wider audience.

The benefits of being active are widely publicised, not only to improve strength and cardiovascular fitness, but also to boost our mood and overall wellbeing.

However, as the nights draw in, it can become difficult to find the time or motivation to be active in our usual ways.

Here are a few ideas to keep active this winter;

1) Ask someone to join you on a socially distanced walk

2) Stand up and move around between television advert breaks

3) Use the stairs more often than you need to

4) Post a letter in the post-box that is furthest away

5) Join an online exercise class, either live or recorded

Remember being active is about moving more than you usually do, so start small and then keep adding.
